“Choose Life”

Jean Vanier, founder of the L’Arche communities for people with mental disabilities, calls our attention to what the Mentally challenged have to offer “normal” people: “They have an incredible gift to bring to our world: they are a source of hope, peace, and perhaps salvation for our wounded world. If we are open to them, if we welcome them, they give us life and lead us to Jesus and the Good News. Voices for the Unborn.

Central & Eastern Europe: Pope Benedict XVI wrote “Love is the light- and in the end, the only light that can always illuminate a world grown dim and give us the courage needed to keep living and working”.  This collection assists the many programs and people who are constant in their efforts to rebuild the Church in these former Iron-Curtain countries. Spread the radiant light of love by supporting this collection.  Thank you.

Pastoral Planning Meeting: Please note the following lay representatives from St. Mary’s parish will be attending the Pastoral Planning meeting in August. There was a mistaken list printed in last week’s bulletin because of vacations, unavailability etc. We will have a report of this meeting presented at Mass to the parish at a weekend in August soon after the meeting. The representatives are: Jim Meehan, Paul Arsenault, Mike Hogan, Jack Fitzgerald, George Rescia, Louis Casagrande, Shirley Fitzgerald, Carol Pickens, Sandy Dolley, Kay Mullins, Beverly Dudley, and Judy Yando.

St. Mary’s New Bulletin:  In early August, we will begin to distribute our new colored format.  If you or someone you know may be interested in advertising please call Jim Simonelli, John Patrick Publishing @ 1-(732) 604-4227 for rates and information.

Mission Co-Op Weekend: We will welcome Fr. Kaz Chwalek, MIC who will tell us about the Marian Fathers’ mission in Cameroon, Africa, at a parish that had been abandoned for 7 years. This parish has been designated as the diocesan Shrine of Divine Mercy and serves 25 villages, with some 1,000 families. The Divine Mercy mission also provides humanitarian assistance to the most needy in the parish. Thank you for your financial support of this mission. Please keep all missionaries in your prayers.

Bethlehem House is in great need of new or used (excellent quality) crib mattresses only. They do not need the cribs. If you can help, please call Pam Hibbard at (413) 262-8517.

Most Holy Redeemer Parish, Hadley will host a forum on Thursday, July 24th from 7:00-8:30 p.m. celebrating the USCCB Natural Family Planning Awareness Week. Our panel will include: Fr. Shaun O’Connor, Oar and Sarah Schloss, as well as Dr. Paul Carpentier, MD.  Refreshments will be served. To register, please call (413) 584-1326.

Scam Alert:  The local Authorities are trying to pass the word of a recent scam in letter form being sent to Senior Citizens.  If you receive anything from “Active Capital Group”  please notify your local police station. The letter asks for money to be sent for a Cash Income Beneficiary Trust Fund in the Netherlands.

Please pray for the repose of the souls of William Wehner and Shirley Dobrzycki.
